Yasuke Adventure in Japanese : How to ask Japanese if they understood in very polite Japanese

As a way of increasing the depth of our Japanese knowledge Yasuke Tips has suggested using Yahoo ChieBukuro.

The following is an example search.

Let’s say you are helping a Japanese person with their business English (or in my case, writing a self-help blog for them). You give them an article to read and you want to ask them – rhetorically – if they understood it. Which of the following would you use:

「ご理解いただけましたか?」 「ご理解いただけたでしょうか?」

And ChieBukuro with the answer:
